About the initiative

What is APO GAIA?

Under the Hiroshima AI Process framework, APO GAIA supports capacity building and information sharing on AI governance and transparency. Its internship pillar creates a practical bridge between trained GCI talent, host organizations and the Matsuo–Iwasawa Lab at the University of Tokyo.

Talent Pipeline

Give GCI graduates structured, hands-on experience applying AI research to real business and policy challenges.

Industry Uplift

Give host organizations access to trained, AI-literate talent and a channel to the Lab's research capability.

Regional Scale-up

Replicate the internship model across APO member economies whose students have completed the GCI course.
